Film

For our next assignment we have to shoot landscapes with film. Our first role was a test role. This was the easiest time I've had with film so far. I loaded it perfectly on the first try and by looking at my negatives I believe they all came out with suitable exposures.

Concealed Identities

I have finally come to a decision on my Objects Assignment, and just in time considering it's due tomorrow. Before I took pictures of my pictures from home as one of my objects. From that I have branched into my new idea. I have randomly assembled the rest of my photos into different arrangements without showing the identities of the people within the photograph. So from these the viewer themselves must interpret how they choose. You will see different body parts and different background but never an entire face. It is a sense of mystery given to each grouping and allows depth to be added to the emotion of the photo.

Pictures of Pictures

For another object I have considered using the photographs of my family and friends from home. I have been messing around with different layouts and amounts. I haven't decided if I want multiple photos to be involved or if I even want it to be in focus.

Home Reminder

I have decided to photograph objects that remind me of home. I am from California, and at times it can become a little lonely. So I figured for my project it would be important to me to illustrate objects that keep my family and friends close at heart even though they are 3,000 miles away. This first object is a key my mom gave me as a gift that I later made into a necklace. On it is inscribed the word "Dream" because my mom has always been there supporting and encouraging me to follow my dreams. I used tin foil as my background because I wanted it to have depth, and almost like a dream-like feel to it.

Neil Winokur

I love the color used throughout Winokur's still life shots. They bring a different emotion to the photograph rather than it having a plain white background.

Chains

For our next project we're focusing more on objects. As I was cleaning my room I was hanging up some necklaces. The different chains next to each other made an interesting composition.

Ad Corner

For my last portrait I represented the Advertising program of photo. As opposed to using an inward corner I chose to use a corner pointing outwards into the room because I wanted it to be a little bit more prominent than in the other two.

PJ Corner

This is illustrating Photojournalism. The point I was trying to get across in this series was that the corner was in the way of his destination. The corner is an obstacle. He had to decide which way to take.

FIne Art Corners

For this series I was illustrating Fine Art Photography through a corner. While running through some definitions and ideas I decided to make it more of a trap. The corner surrounds her as if she is caged in and needs to escape. Anxiety was the key emotion to making this story real.

Scuba Taylor

A little different then my last entry. My subject is obviously aware that I am taking his picture, but it works. He's taking Underwater Photography this quarter and I had him model his gear to pass some time.

History and Aesthetics

I was a fan of this photo because despite all the business going on in this auditorium of at least 100 kids, my friend here still manages to snooze a little during our ten minute break.

Irving Penn

For my first photo project in Elements of Fine Arts I have decided to portray the three programs of Advertising, Fine Art, and Photojournalism in the setting of a corner. Irving Penn had some great takes of one of his pieces that has given me some visual support for the structure I am considering.

Back with Good Company

This summer may have gone by too fast for many, but for me I am glad to be back with some familiar faces. With classes, volleyball, and some "family" dinners within the first week I realized how much I missed being in the lovely city of Rochester.
