Rodney Smith
Rodney Smith is a photographer I learned of during the first quarter of this academic year. His work is amazing. He has great composition, and every photo has almost a feel of elegance. A lot of them are very creative, and have an old fashioned feeling to them. They appear very simple with a very unique meaning. He has probably become one of my favorite photographers.

New Inspirations
While planning my final project for this quarter I discovered some new photographers. This picture is from Galen & Barbara Rowell. This picture was taken in Zimbabwe on the Zambezi River. These are the Victoria Falls during sunrise.
They have a great talent at catching the different colors in nature. The photos really caught my attention because these are the types of photos I can see myself taking later on. I love nature photography as well as using natural light to an advantage.

Favored
This photo was taken by Steven McCurry and later published to the cover of National Geographic (issue June of 1985). He took this photo while traveling through the Nasir Bagh refugee camp. It later became a symbol of the Afgan conflict. They were unaware of her name for 17 years (12 years old when the photo was taken). They later discovered her name was Sharbat Gula.
I really admire McCurry's photojournalistic abilities. His photos always tell a story. He has an amazing ability to capture the struggle and joy going on throughout a country. McCurry is one of my favorite photographers due to his excellent use of color. I myself am a huge fan of incorporating color creatively throughout my photos so he caught my eye right away.

Self Portrait
This week in my Photo Arts class we had to shoot some type of self portrait of ourselves. If you've met me at one point of another you've probably seen me walk on my toes. I was born with short achilles tendons. Everyone will always mention it to me sooner or later, and I don't mind if you ask me about it. I could undergo surgery to fix the problem, however it's something thats never really bothered me. I think it sets me apart from other people. Something I have for myself. So I decided to illustrate it for my self portrait, because I highly doubt others have the exact same condition as me. It makes me, me!
